GREAT ARTISTS HAVE NO COUNTRIES (Ver. 1) || LYRICS “Great artists have no countries” (?) They share with Superman a piece of land in the sky “Great artists have no countries” (?) As oppsed, I guess, to politicians and preachers Great artists have no Shanti No make-up either And you can’t tell what’s the art today The music itself or the selling of it And you can’t tell what’s the art today The music itself or the selling of it “Great artists have no countries” (?) Or so it seems when they’re British or Americans Because when others claim international success They seem to be carring everywhere their place of birth Like a big hump on their back that just gets heavier “Great artists have no countries” (?) Or so it seems when they’re British or Americans “Great artists have no countries” (?) Or a rather good excuse to avoid tax Great artists have no party No slogans either And you can’t tell what’s the art today The music itself or the bloffing of it And you can’t tell what’s the art today The music itself or the bloffing of it “Great artists have no countries” I once believed in this slogan I once truly believed it is true

PRODUCTIVE SLEEPING || LYRICS I know it didn’t feel like sleeping at all Not exactly what you’d call rest Running through the dreams all the events That were about to follow on Productive sleeping Not a waste of time Just a relative nightmare I guess you didn’t get any rest all night Funny but for me it doesn’t feel like working at all And neither do I consider it as a joy All the things I do in my dreams Aren’t there when I wake up Productive sleeping Such a waste of time A relative nightmare Could’ve been doing things all night So I looked in my dictionary To see what it says about productive sleeping And there it was Black on white Productive sleeping: “Staying in bed but still getting everything else done”

The minute you put on your Yankees cap This “Kiss Protector” of yours Just like a tease, I’m ever so pleased To pick up the gauntlet and play Well, it’s not fair Men are always well up for it So it’s either the women who set up the tone Or us being hypocrites Men don’t stand a chance When the women are well up for it We’re too lazy and happy to be taken care of And the women make the most of it The minute you brag with the nails of your toes These little TV screens of yours Just like a tease, I’m ever so pleased To reach out my hands and play WELL UP FOR IT || LYRICS Well, it’s not fair Men are always well up for it So it’s either the women who set up the tone Or us being hypocrites Men don’t stand a chance When the women are well up for it We’re too lazy and happy to be taken care of And the women make the most of it Well, it’s not fair Men are always well up for it So it’s either the women who set up the tone Or us being hypocrites Men don’t stand a chance When the women are well up for it We’re too lazy and happy to be taken care of And the women make the most of it

TIMBUKTU || LYRICS Launching out into the great beyond Timbuktu Going back to Poland Dying where Edgar Allan Poe used to live Launching out into the great beyond Timbuktu Know-how knows no borders Marching through my brain like long last brethren Chintzy exhortations Like knives that never went dull Like light bulbs that never burned out Like secret formula lotions That remind the curse of baldness And if the sky delivered What it seemed to have promised That’s exactly what was going to happen Launching out into the great beyond Timbuktu As surely as the sun was a lamp in the clouds That went off and on every day Launching out into the great beyond Timbuktu No useless bits of knowledge Unwanted memories, dandelion fluff It’s all flit and fume, my boy, a bellyful of wind But if this was the only life he’d ever tasted Who was he to judge Whether it was rich or poor in the stuff That makes life worth living? She was a pistol, that one His toes were in the water now And it was either sink or swim from this point on Launching out into the great beyond Timbuktu Going back to Poland Dying where Edgar Allan Poe used to live

RUGDOLLYANNA || LYRICS Rugdollyanna Arms detached from the rest of your body Sweetly tired You can rest Don't worry about the wind I'll be holding your head Rugdollyanna Arms move in a floppy motion Sweetly smiling Is it allowed to hug you? I'll protect you And shelter you from the wind And if you frown with worry Rugdollyanna Don't forget that I know you Hold my hand Don't worry about a thing We'll be finding a way Hold my hand Don't worry about a thing I'll be finding We'll be finding a way

about

Partly influenced by a first visit to New York city, this is perhaps the only ALiEN ALRiGHT album where the lyrics (on most of the songs) take center stage.

It's also the first album that breaks away from autobiographical nature that dominated the first five albums, tackling all kinds of ideas with a similarly different perspective on things, whether it's relationships - in a semi-serious, slightly humerous way ('Well Up For It' and 'Transformental Pigs'), or work ('Productive Sleeping'), art and identity ("Great artists have no countries / They share with Superman a piece of land in the sky"), and a one-off exercise of composing lines taken from a book ('Timbuktu' by Paul Auster).

The album then ends with two lullebies, the gentle 'Rugdollyanna' (track 10), with it's unusual guitar arrangement, and 'You Carry the Love' (track 12), which recalls the vaudaville/musichall genres that were popular in the 1930's and 40's.

about

ALiEN ALRiGHT Modi'In Makabim Re'Ut, Israel

Landing in the UK for an unexpected stay of 7 years, 'Alien Alright' is like an 'outsider's indie-rock diary' of music recorded during that time.

It's organized by order and consists of 14 albums - all 100% DIY, home-made.

Some of the albums are more properly produced, some are recorded with just vocals over an acoustic guitar, and 2 are improvised live.

You’re welcome to explore and enjoy :)
